[Kanda is never going to start conversations I am so sorry in advance
But Erin can at least find him!! He's dressed in his regular clothes now. His hair is down for the moment, and it's clean but slightly stiff, because sometimes there is no shampoo... sad. Kanda's sitting somewhere quiet, meditating with his eyes closed; there's a sheathed sword sitting next to him, and Erin will see the number 2 on his chest, over his heart.]
[At some point he might begin hearing a noise of something being dragged -- metal scraping agains the ground. It might be the only warning someone is coming!]
[Takes a second or two for Erin to appear! Dragging her stupid demonic sword. She sees Kanda -- ah, she's looking for him, but then she sees the sword he has]
Oh, bugger. I was hoping to saddle you with this if you hadn't found yours.
[Erin doesn't want the sword, after all.
Oh well, she'll have to keep hers. Can't be throwing a character's item!]
[If I were playing Childe he would jump at this opportunity, but unfortunately Kanda isn't interested in collecting weapons. He also isn't nice enough to help her with the sword... poor Erin.]
Leave it by the fire. [He just assumes someone will take it tbh]
Just to be safe breaking the stained glass windows showing that goat might be good.
[Imagine leaving that sword by the light of one, so it gets possessed by the spirit of some satanic goat. Or not, I still don't have all that clear what the goat depicted is, haha]
[Erin deserves better than having to deal with Kanda, but here he is! Just sitting by the big fire with his sword, presumably waiting for someone. She'll have to call out to him if she wants to chat, since he's useless.]
It could have been more than one person agreeing to do that.
[Kanda, you're a big of an easy target for pranks, really. People love to mess with the cranky. Maybe two or more got together and thought it'd be funny to make you smile]
[Hewwo Erin, he can be finishing up at the mail room and heading out of it. He's still a little unsteady on his feet, but he's got his sword back, and a batlike creature hovering nearby.]
[Why do you all have to come from places that are so weird -- she thinks to herself in a very hypocritical manner]
Wish we knew. They're still a mystery -- but there's no doubt they're related to the ritual the cult is trying to achieve. Whether they're components or something containing instructions is hard to know.
[She's so valid for asking, honestly. Kanda would also love it if one of them knew what the hell these rune rocks were for. Unfortunately, he shakes his head.]
Nothing that works here. [He's familiar with magic, a little, but he's pretty sure he'd know by now if the cult was using anything he could work with. He spent the first few weeks of the game convinced otherwise, but by now, he's forced to concede defeat.] Lavi might recognize them. But the... guy with the ears [he means Nehan] said the cult might read our mail.
[So it's probably not safe to try and sketch them and mail them over.]
Why would the cult read the mail from a bunch signing with random nom de plumes and then send it all anyway? You'd think they'd throw the letters away and not let anyone receive them. Isolate everyone, leave them without any outside communication.
[Not that Erin is against taking precautions, of course! She's never going to mention anything about the rocks or about the ritual components people have stolen]
I think he meant that the cult watches the rest of them all the time, so if they saw them reading something from us or heard them talking too blatantly, they'd know we're around and we'd be screwed.
Not sure how I feel about having to rely on people's capacity to keep a tight lid on this.
[They won't intentionally tattle, buuuut also, well, slips happen, and it's going to be about two or three weeks of crossing fingers and hoping everyone will be careful. It's kind of stressful]
Think it's really going to be fine? Look, I have warmed up to all these people, but I'd sooner trust the people on this side to keep quiet about something, than the majority of people on the other side.
[Whiiiich she has to admit is fueled by how she has gotten to know far better the people she has been with here. Comparatively speaking, the living side's people are more of a mystery.
Kanda, though, has the opposite thing going on, he was among the living for far longer than Erin did, so she pokes to see what Kanda thinks]
[Funnily enough, most of the people Kanda liked best died very early, so they're also over on this side. Then again, he trusts Lavi the most, and Lavi is still alive. Dilemma.]
There's nothing we can do about it if it's not, so it's up to them to figure that out. [...] Humans want to live, though. If they fuck up, it won't be on purpose.
[Which doesn't really help in the end, but--he trusts them to at least try.]
If all goes to metaphorical hell and we all end up in literal hell after getting sacrificed for some deity, I'm not taking everyone along with me once I break out of the afterlife again.
[...that's a bluff, she'd bring you all along because, for better or for worse, she has more than just 'warmed up' to you bunch]
[Well, Kanda left the trial pretty early, and he's hard to find until a while later--but eventually he'll be at the food court in the mall, eating soba from the Japanese food stall.
He's a boring person so he won't greet her but she's welcome to approach him if she wants! His emotions are pretty muted.]
[Hopefully she enjoys it! He's eating cold soba, like usual. Yummy.
There's a twist of complicated emotions at her words--Kate had killed him, after all, and in a way that he'd absolutely hated. It's not easy to let that go, even though he knows it wasn't actually Kate. He has no intention of nursing a grudge against her, but it does mean it'll take him a day or two before he's willing to spend time around her like nothing happened.
Still, it's for the best that she's here. And he's glad that Lavi and Laudna were the ones to do it. If Kate could've chosen anyone, it probably would've been them.]
Probably alongside Robin tomorrow, once the execution happens. Never rule out this stupid place will pull off some surprise and bring Kate at some unexpected time, though. Consistency isn't its strongest suit.
[For all we know Kate is about to appear right beside them in three minutes or so! (nah)]
[Okay! No cause for alarm, thank goodness. If Kanda had been running out of there all spooked I'd have seriously wondered what was bad enough to make that happen, haha]
There's got to be better places to exercise than the mall. Creating something that works better would do the trick.
[I was this close on having Erin suggest him to run at the trails of the summer camp but then I remembered...oh...that's where his corpse was at, whooops]
[Kanda will be very hard to find for a long time after the trial! But eventually Erin can locate him at the food court; once again, he's eating soba. He doesn't seem to be in the best mood, so the conversation will probably be short, but he doesn't glare at her or chase her off if she approaches.]
Week 0, Monday

[Then leave it somewhere else, Erin, geez]

[Erin throws a free complaint there because why not]
no subject
Leave the sword at the church, then.
[Maybe it'll be purified... or something]

[Hmmmmm...]
Just to be safe breaking the stained glass windows showing that goat might be good.

Kanda is a jerk, so he assumes that's the end of the input she needs, and he closes his eyes to go back to meditating. I'm sorry he's so rude]
Week 1, Thursday
no subject
Hey. What was going on with you during the soup thing? Did you get cursed?
[Erin is convinced Kanda wouldn't smile on purpose. Something went wrong and she, being nosy, wanted to find out]
no subject
Obviously. I don't make stupid faces like that.
[STUPID FACES LIKE SMILING]
no subject
[Labeling it as a murderous aura isn't terribly nice, Erin]
no subject
He grunts, annoyed.]
I'll cut them to pieces if I find them. [That probably isn't true. But it's hard to say, with Kanda...]

Week 4 --- Sunday
[Oh hey! Looks like Erin came to talk, wherever Kanda is]
no subject
The dangerous ones?
no subject
[She trails off when she sees Kanda's companion. Huh. Okay, that's new. What even is that]
Okay, what even is that?
[...don't get distrated, Erin. She shakes her head]
But yes, the dangerous ones. The ones that rewarded us with mystery rocks.
no subject
It's a communicator. [Well. Kind of. It does other things too but he's not going to get into it. He'd rather focus on the rocks.]
What are they?
no subject
[Why do you all have to come from places that are so weird -- she thinks to herself in a very hypocritical manner]
Wish we knew. They're still a mystery -- but there's no doubt they're related to the ritual the cult is trying to achieve. Whether they're components or something containing instructions is hard to know.
no subject
Must be the same as the stuff we kept finding over there. [Their creepy post-CYOA rewards...]
no subject
[Oh hey...]
Have you ever heard about magic and runes and all that? Please say yes, I'm growing tired of having to ask that to everyone hoping for a yes.
[She's desperately looking for someone who can finally put an use to those rocks, ever since the first couple were found, and so far, no success!
because it is not the time yet erin let the murdergame go at its own pacing]
no subject
Nothing that works here. [He's familiar with magic, a little, but he's pretty sure he'd know by now if the cult was using anything he could work with. [Yeah. He agrees!!! He wants to have faith, but it really is so easy to slip up.]
We'll just have to keep warning them, I guess.
no subject
[Whiiiich she has to admit is fueled by how she has gotten to know far better the people she has been with here. Comparatively speaking, the living side's people are more of a mystery.

Week 5, Saturday
He's a boring person so he won't greet her but she's welcome to approach him if she wants! His emotions are pretty muted.]
no subject
Erin gets her own soba. She has never tried it, but still...!]
Well that took care of the whole Kate thing.
[And it was unpleasant to watch, but that's how life goes, isn't it? She feels pretty bad for Kate, truthfully]
no subject
There's a twist of complicated emotions at her words--Kate had killed him, after all, and in a way that he'd absolutely hated. It's not easy to let that go, even though he knows it wasn't actually Kate. He has no intention of nursing a grudge against her, but it does mean it'll take him a day or two before he's willing to spend time around her like nothing happened.

When will she get here?
no subject
[For all we know Kate is about to appear right beside them in three minutes or so! (nah)]
Week 6, Monday
Someone went into the new clothing store, apparently]
no subject
Alright.
[He'll check tomorrow, then.]
no subject
Why were you asking? Are you worried about Kate or are you wary of her?
[The latter is what she's assuming, really, because it's how Erin would feel had Kate murdered her]
no subject
no subject
no subject
Because I've only been here for a week, and nobody died halfway through trial last time.
[Somehow! Even though Karlach was on a rampage at the end there.]
no subject
There's got to be better places to exercise than the mall. Creating something that works better would do the trick.
[I was this close on having Erin suggest him to run at the trails of the summer camp but then I remembered...oh...that's where his corpse was at, whooops]
no subject
He stops to jog in place near her, and looks a little frustrated.]
I don't know why I started--!
[It's the location effect, Kanda]
no subject
[As if it was that easy to stop and not keep going a while later]
no subject
[He tries to stand still for a second!!
But then his foot starts fidgeting, and then tapping and after a minute he starts jogging in place again.]
Week 6, Saturday
