But surprisingly, Kanda isn't that hard to find; he walked away from the crowd after Nona died, but only to take up a guard position a little ways away from where Erin is being held by the barrier. He'll probably swap off with Lavi now and then, though, so the alternative is finding him out in the woods, running through his sword forms like he usually does.

[But Caelus can't complain if his bat gets chopped in half. No jk Kanda will pull his strikes before he can do that because they need all the active and able fighters they can get.

But he doesn't say anything more than that, simply shifting his stance and waiting.]

[ caelus rolled a 14. let's interpret that as a decent fight, but not the toughest of kanda's life.

still, it's no stroll in the park.

caelus swings the bat one-handed yet explosively. when he misses kanda, striking a tree or the ground, he leaves craters from the impact. in contrast, he's light on his feet, quick to bounce back after kanda strikes in turn. he's not one to dodge, relying instead on his own endurance.

eventually, he'll make a defining mistake. he moves with too much power, not enough flexibility, and kanda can, oh. strike him down. decapitate. kick into tree. however he wants to end this.

[Kanda isn't used to fighting someone who wields a bat, but he is used to fighting someone who uses one hand (thanks Allen), so the biggest adjustment is the fact that it's not a fuckoff-huge sword. He adapts quickly and doesn't hold back his strikes--even to the untrained eye, it's obvious that Kanda's sword is an extension of himself, and he wields it as if he was born to do so. He shows no fear or hesitation at the extent of Caelus's strength; if anything, it only pushes him to strike harder and faster.

And yeah he can kick him hard in honor of Lenalee, let's go with that. Miss you queen. Please come back you've been gone for so long.]

[ there it comes, the leg right to his chest when caelus was too focused on clashing bat-to-sword again. he's sent sailing, smacking hard into a nearby tree before gravity takes him down.

he looks a bit silly, seated against the trunk, legs straight out in front of him. his left hand, his free hand, grasps onto his shirt over his chest. ]

Ahh, I yield. I can't--

[ shutting his eyes. heavy breaths. ]

[ this iteration of caelus being called stupid earns a short laugh. a slightly physically uncomfortable laugh, given the kickie received a second ago. ]
