gojo's a furry and vin is in a bad way, but also camille is dead and caelus was just talking to her. she was in front of him what feels like a moment ago. within reach. able to receive his support and tell him what was on her mind. and now she's gone.
and it will kill him, caelus, if the same happens with kanda.
so, what does a real alpha do? they decide it doesn't matter if their feelings can't reach the other person. they want to see them, so they will do a drive-by check-on if nothing else.

But sure, after Camille's body disappears there's still enough time for him to get a little meditation in by the water. He's got his exorcist coat off for now, folded beside him with Mugen resting on top of it; it's a little easier to see that he's still bandaged this way. He probably should've used the swamp before today, but... his unwillingness to deal with the side effects won out, so. C'est la vie.
He opens his eyes at the sound of footsteps, and nods in greeting; if he's holding any grudges over what Caelus said before, he doesn't show it. His gaze drops down to the book and turns slightly curious, though he doesn't ask about it, just waits for Caelus to speak.]

[It's not about who he is or it being evil or anything, he's truly just an anti after seeing how badly it affected Lavi... HE HAS HIS OWN HALLUCINATIONS HE DOESN'T WANT MORE. But he's also confident in his ability to fight off an attacker, even with how badly he's still hurt. Kanda doesn't know how murder nights work.

[Caelus is not the first person to fuss over him and probably won't be the last... but Kanda does believe that he took that first weekend to heart, and that he's been making an active effort to not hesitate since then. And besides that, he saw Caelus's memory; jumping in to block that strike is exactly what he did for those other people, and Caelus is enough of a softhearted idiot to do it for others here, too.]

Kanda's confident he could hold his own against an assailant even in his current state, but he knows he's making it harder on the group as a whole by refusing to use the swamp. And with people dropping like flies around them, they're losing combatants at an alarming rate. If Caelus gets himself injured by being reckless or sentimental, Kanda will kick him into the swamp himself and send him clean through a tree on the way.]
