[Typically, this week, Kanda's been doing his best to avoid the memory voids--mostly because he's such an intensely private person, but also because he's placed so much distance between himself and everyone else here. In many ways, he's a good person to get stuck with; he has little desire to ask questions or offer pushy, potentially unwanted words of sympathy.

Kate is one of the very, very few exceptions. He's noted her down as something to investigate if they make it out of here alive--and beyond that, Kate has been quiet, diligent, and respectful, which makes it easier to spend time with her compared to many others here. Combined, that means he's... not fussy over her, really, he can't be when they're strangers, when so much of this is out of his control--but it does mean he's more attentive with her than he is with so many others.

So for once, he actually pays attention to what he's seeing. And when it ends, he's quiet, processing everything he just saw before he looks at her.]

The drink did something to them. [That much was obvious, but it's a question; given the ending of the memory, he isn't sure how much more she knows.]

[He considers telling her it's because he still suspects there's Innocence on her island... but ultimately, he decides not to.]

It's part of what the Order does. Investigating unusual phenomena.

... Does this mean you would come to our aid?

I don't know. [Honest and straightforward, as always.] Innocence does a lot of things. If there's a piece on your island, it's possible he's taking advantage of it to do whatever he's doing.

Even if it's not our business, whoever they send to investigate might stay and help anyway. There are a lot of softhearted idiots who can't help themselves. [Kanda be nice Allen isn't even here]

If they send someone, make sure they wear filtered masks. The air is bad there.

[He seems like he's ready to leave it at that--but of course it can't be so easy, and this time, the void spits out one of his memories.

[Yikes indeed... fortunately it doesn't bother him too much to have this memory shared, beyond his general irritation at the invasiveness.]

No, he was a Noah. The ones that control Akuma. They're all that annoying, though. [That's not what she meant]

They... control them? So the Akuma are like tools to them...?

[ a lil bit of smoke as she's trying to understand this. ]

Yeah. Or forces, I guess. [Like an army, kind of]

How frightening...

[ and speaking of things that are kind of frightening... ]

Um, and your sword... it uses your life force?

[sixillusions]

Not always. [Fortunately... that's for when I play Mikaela OwarinoSeraph] It wouldn't work here even if I tried. I can't activate Mugen at all.

[So right now it's just a piece of Innocence shaped like a sword, which seems to be enough for what they need here, but is still frustrating nonetheless.]

That must be dangerous, though. Is there no other way?

Against them? No.

[It really is just a case of "which flavor of death would you like," and Kanda is far too stubborn to lay down and let himself be killed without doing everything in his power to take out his opponent.]

That one's dead for now, though, so it's one less headache for us.
