[ here, people don't ever treat her like a combatant. they treat her like a child, mostly. but she's baffled to get questioned on her choice to confront boothill. it had been hard, scary even, but she was fully prepared to incapacitate or even kill him if she had to. if he was really was going to be going after everyone as he had claimed. ]

Granted--it's not like he doesn't want her to live. Exorcists are destroyers, not saviors, and he stands by that, but what are they fighting for, if not to save the world? He wants minimal losses just like anyone else. And he isn't going to disregard any fighters under these circumstances. He's pretty sure they'll need all the firepower they can get, especially with people like Mathis around.

[Kanda knows a lot of people who mask their deeper thoughts and feelings with mischief and cheer, so it doesn't really surprise him to find that she apparently does, too. If anything, it helps to know that she's capable of taking this seriously--if she can show that she has it in her to follow through, that's all that really matters in the end.]
