[ her eyes are puffy and red because she has very obviously been crying all night but she speaks quietly. there is... determination (tm) ]
I'll just come out and say it. I'm pretty sure Iwatooshi is the monster we missed last week. If there aren't three monsters, then someone else figured that out and took action.
Yeah. We talked about it too. I didn't think it was Karlach because of how hard she pushed Tomizawa when he was being kind of suspicious. That would have put such a target on her back.
[ but yeah, the thought had occurred to her. if there's three monsters this week then it ain't looking good for karlach ]
Not without me. And we weren't going to act until we made sure.
[There will be no ponchos this time around... what will they do...
He has no reason not to believe her about this, though, and he didn't know Cloud or Aerith well enough to guess if they would've lied to Yuffie about it, so he takes this at face value and sighs.]
Lavi said last week that we'd have at least two monster kills this time, according to those three. [The NPCs] But the third, I don't know. If he's the one we were missing, then we don't have to worry about it, but we'll need to figure it out for sure.
[Which may be tough unless someone comes out and says it. Personally, he thinks that would be the smartest thing to do, but he knows how easily people get scared, so he won't be surprised if that doesn't happen.]
They found his weapon at the gas station, but not his body. So either he dropped it, or someone moved him.
[ maybe there will be gas station ponchos.... she nods in response to all of that ]
Thanks.
If it's like last week, and we figure out multiple monsters.... [ she is pretty convinced that cloud and aerith were killed by monsters. cloud especially. so: ]
Cloud's one of the strongest people I've ever known. Whatever took him down... it's got to be tough. I might not be able to handle it alone. [ and it takes a lot for her to admit that ] Can I count on you if I need backup?
[Imagine she asks this and the murderer is like, Kate
Against all odds, he does actually understand that this probably isn't easy for her to ask. Her confidence is hard to miss, and he's had no reason to think it's misplaced--and while he doesn't know her well enough to know if revenge will truly carry her all the way through, he remembers her assertion, after Boothill. And he does believe in her devotion to them, that she'll search as hard as she can for the killers.
Kanda liked Cloud more than he liked most people here, and though he'd complained about Aerith, he hadn't truly hated her either. But Kanda isn't bound by his emotions, so it's easy for him to answer.]
I'll cut down whoever I need to. [That's as true at always--if she needed support, he would've stepped in no matter what. But right now, she's free to take it as agreement.] Pull yourself together. You can't look for clues if you're crying.

[TCH!!! He would stab Kate but he wouldn't like it... but it was not sweet Kate. Yet.
For now, he eyes her like he's deciding whether he wants to believe her words--but her conviction seems to ring true enough, so he just nods without further comment. There are people trickling in already, probably--they don't need to be overheard plotting murder, even if it's for the greater good.]

What'd he find?

Cloud mentioned the ponchos. That it was probably him or--[He glances over at the bulletin board profiles]--Karlach.
[They'd talked it over, though Kanda had made any headway afterward.]
...Would they have gone after him together? [He thinks it's probably unlikely all three of them took each other out, but. He won't discount anything.
Oh I forgot to answer her question HE'LL TELL IN A SEC it's fine]
