The two of them truly haven't spoken much about personal things--at least not beyond what Kanda thought was necessary to share in their current situation--and while that's partly why he doesn't mind her company, it also means there's a lot to take in here that he has no context for. And normally that wouldn't even matter much, since Kanda doesn't typically ask questions, but this feels important enough to get clarification on.

But he has no tact, so:]
