Most people aren't. [So that's fair tbh. He isn't going to preach at her. But imagine how funny it would be if he did.] But it's that or letting the world end.

[The real answer is that he's barely known any kind of life outside of this, so it's kind of an impossible thing to imagine--you can't really un-learn about the potential harbinger of the apocalypse and all.]

There's professions that work that way where I come from, too. They get you young, raise you up, monopolize your time. Bend your body and fold your mind into whatever shapes are needed. And then when your youth is gone, so is your job. It's a pretty big hole to fill, in the long years after.

[For his part, it doesn't seem to surprise him that this all seems incomprehensible; if the situation wasn't so glaringly familiar in a number of ways, he and Lavi probably would've been much less open about the whole thing.]
