[Lavi doesn't take too long -- they have a sunrise to catch and he knows the limits of Kanda's patience -- eventually picking out a spot on a hill not so different from the one yesterday. This time, Lavi heads towards a tall, flowering tree, picking a spot underneath its branches. The hill itself is covered in what looks like flowers, all with their buds still tightly closed. Lavi inspects one of them, turning the bud between his fingers with obvious curiosity,]
One of the locals said they're real pretty when they're in bloom. Said that they even put roses to shame.

He glances over when Lavi speaks up, looking at the bud in his hand before he turns his gaze back to the horizon.]

It's a combination of that incessant curiosity at learning something new -- and the pull he always feels whenever he's around Kanda, the need to be close and closer yet.]

[One of the nice things about Lavi is that all for his knowledge-seeking ways, he never wants or tries to be the smartest person in the room, having no interest in being a know-it-all. he's already so annoying so imagine having MANSPLAINING as a character trait.... then he'd really have to be blown up by hoshino for all eternity....
instead, he's content to look adoringly at Kanda, expectant and enjoying this rare moment of conversation on a pretty hill before a romantic sunrise view.]

[He lifts a hand, splaying his fingers as if to demonstrate what he means, even though this is not really any more helpful than his verbal description... but it's fine. If the motion makes him lean slightly to the side, into Lavi, well--that's fine too. Despite all his complaints, he's here, like this, entirely because he wants to be. If he'd truly wanted space and quiet, he would've left Lavi behind.
He does consider telling Lavi that his enthralled expression is stupid though. MUST LAVI STARE LIKE THIS!!!!]
Lavi keeps looking, this time mesmerized by Kanda's hand, the sight as familiar to him as his own. The long fingers, the curve of the wrist, the way it feels in Lavi's hand, solid and cool. He raises his palm, but instead of grabbing Kanda's hand -- he aligns his next to Kanda's, spreading his own fingers out, trying to mimic the pattern of petals, as if both of their hands could make up one flower.
He smiles at the silliness of it, at the way that it probably looks not at all like the real thing, at the sight of their hands close together, at being allowed in Kanda's space.
there isn't a noticeable size difference between their hands, maybe Lavi's fingers are a speck longer thanks to being such a tall beanpole, but otherwise they're matched in size, if not in texture. Lavi's hands are full of calluses, mostly on his fingers, which his gloves leave bare. He curls his pinky lightly around Kanda's thumb,]
