[HELLO well firstly, depending on if Rondo left and came back or not, he'll probably notice that despite leaving the general area, Kanda's only taken up a guard position a little ways away from the barrier, keeping an eye on Jailed Erin. If Rondo is, like, throwing himself at the barrier or otherwise visibly distraught or whatnot he'll keep an eye on him...
Other than that, he may or may not swap out guard duty with Lavi--Rondo can also find him out in the woods running through his nightly sword forms like usual if he doesn't feel like chatting near the pyre.]
[ it's really funny that you say this because i have written the exact same starter this evening by which i mean. rondo is also here, keeping guard by the pyre!!! SO THEY ARE TRULY JUST HERE VIBING(?) ALL NIGHT
the good news is he is not in fact throwing himself at the barrier. he's... actually fairly calm, for the most part, just standing with his hand on his sword, looking into the blue of the flame. it's only after a few visitors have come and gone that he finally speaks up, in a moment of silence. ]
[GUARD DUTY IT IS... Kanda will not complain about this because he truly doesn't care about who does the stabbing in the end, so long as the evil is defeated.gif with minimal buffoonery.
And, similarly:]
It doesn't matter as long as she goes down tomorrow. [For all that he talks about not hesitating, not being too late--in the end, his main goal is to destroy what needs to be destroyed with minimal casualties. Rondo engaged with Erin and kept her from killing others, and Vin took out Nona before she even really had the chance to transform. That's good enough for Kanda to shift his focus.] It's the missing one that's the problem.
he nods - though there's a flicker of hesitation to that too, a flicker of worry. the thought of hesitation being the reason that someone who can't fight gets thrown into the ring is terrifying. for a brief, fleeting moment, he squeezes his eyes together and silently prays to aelfric (ignoring the lore of riverdale), that that won't be the case. please. please.
kanda brings up a more important point, anyway, and he nods. ]
...I don't feel like we were even close to finding out who it was. Miss Laudna identified that short list of people who could have been hit by the item falling from the tree, but... we don't even know if that was the right case.
[that someone who can't fight gets thrown into the ring oopsies
IT'S FINE ASA LIVED we were all the real victims here actually.]
I don't think anyone hit their head on the tree. [Since the list was useless aside from Karma's name, and so many other body parts could have scuffed bark, if it was made by a person at all. But he's mostly put the details of trial out of his mind already, so he doesn't have any good guesses to offer right now.] The best we can do now is watch for people acting strangely.
