It's trickier than he expected it to be, figuring out the Lavi that's with him compared to the one he's so accustomed to. They're the same in many ways, but here and now, the differences are stark. It's not that the man who grins so shamelessly, who pranks him and teases him and pushes all his buttons just for the fun of it, isn't a genuine part of Lavi, but it's not the way he's behaving right now, and it's a little jarring. It feels like moving to block a strike, only for the blow to never actually come.
Ultimately, Kanda decides, the desire to touch isn't strong enough to win out over uncertainty.
