No I'm kidding he doesn't do that. He actually doesn't seem all that concerned with her at all after their initial scuffle, so she thankfully doesn't have to worry about being stalked and harassed by a little asshole. He's way more interested in getting back in his normal clothes immediately!! He's also got a second long coat over the first one and a sheathed sword in his hand. The robes they arrived in are rudely thrown on the ground. He's going to leave them there...
She'll probably have to talk to him first now that he knows she's not the kind of creature he's looking for, but she can catch him tying his hair up in a ponytail, or frowning at his free hand, which now has leech bites on it in addition to the papercuts from yesterday.]
anyway, she is a Little Uneasy around him but not that bad. for the most part karlach's fine to let it go because she's known guys like this - dudes with no social grace are common in the mercenary scene. and she really nothing if not friendly and happy to talk to people from all over, so when she sees him in his cool guy clothes staring at his hand, she wanders over and peers at it.
she's wearing her default outfit, and her chest is glowing red like a pulse, in and out.]
Oooh, they got you good, huh. [she says, sucking air between her teeth.] At least you got your stuff, though!
The way he would hate merc camps too is so funny HE'S JUST AN EQUAL-OPPORTUNITY LITTLE HATER. There is a 90% chance she will see him pulling his sword on other people and a 99% chance it'll be Lavi, but that's okay because he brings it on himself.
He tenses slightly and will move away if she gets too close, but otherwise it's like yesterday never happened.]
It's fine. It'll heal. [Since she knows the fighty types, she'll probably notice that he does seem a little more comfortable now that he has his sword. Speaking of, he frowns at that too, but for a different reason.
Muttering:]
Why'd they take it if they weren't going to break it...
[Kanda continues to be fantasy racist like "that's weird," but he keeps it in his head this time.]
My sword. [Unsheathes it... bleeds on the sheath, probably... does not seem to care about that. The blade is blood red!! Wow. So much red happening in this PC right now.] The people who brought us here should've broken it right away. Tch...
[This means they're playing GAMES ooooo he can't stand their asses (he is so certain he knows what's going on and he is wrong)]
[smiles tearfully in making you start every conversation
KANDA IS JUST HERE EXISTING,,, I don't know if she sleeps or not HELP. If she was out and about she probably saw him head off to the woods any time between 4am and 9am with his sword. He then drowns himself in the stream so he doesn't have to deal with this crowd anymore (no)
She can catch him on the way back!! There is a number in the low thousands on his upper arm, showing through his coat. That's probably fine.]
[i knew what i was signing up for when i picked up the most outgoing girl in the world i will start every conversation for sweet kanda
ANYWAY HELP SHE DOES SLEEP it's fine. she's an annoying jock who goes for a run in the mornings, so she probably passes by him. and stops to walk with him because again, she's annoying.
and they match! she's also got a crazy number on her arm. it's like a billion. or less than that but it's a big number. above that is the word AVERNUS.]
[i'm sorry that i did not grab you sunday but honestly the thread would've been like 2 comments anyway so
hello, she is here at the beach. she's a little less cheerful than normal, but it's not like it was yesterday, at least. she's standing with her feet in the waves, tail swaying back and forth. she's probably wearing a sundress, actually, i'm too lazy to go look for one just assume it's something nice and beachy.
kanda gets a little nod, and a smile.]
Would offer to spar again, but I think Daan might ground me for real.
[No that's fair, Kanda left right after execution and would've been kind of hard to find anyway for. Reasons. Don't worry about it.
Like the giant loser he is, Kanda isn't really interested in any of these new places--but!! He is here at the beach with a fishing rod and a bucket. He's in his usual outfit... long coats at the beach? No problem...
no she doesn't do that but she sees him around! and because she is who she is, she comes to walk with him. quietly at first. that'll last like five seconds, but she just kind of doesn't want to be alone and he's fine enough company for that.]
Anyway he showed some emotions at execution today so he runs away to become a cryptid in the forest when she approaches--no I'm kidding. (Mostly.) He's not that hard to find, still in town like he usually is; heading towards the stream, probably, his favorite place apart from the woods.
There's a slightly distant look in his eyes, like he's lost in thought, but he snaps back to focus as she approaches; he glances over, but doesn't say anything, since he isn't sure if she wants anything in particular.]
He doesn't say it back, but he does nod in acknowledgment, so there's that. Fortuantely he figured out pretty quickly that she is not deterred by a "get lost" so he will just. Succumb to this fate of company for now.]
[Haha!!! Guess who's going to fucking hate this week.
But unfortunately the town is fucking small and Kanda has zero interest in the new area (outside from maybe the Toyama residence), so crossing paths is unavoidable no matter how hard he tries. Sooner or later, they'll run into each other, and Karlach gets to see a memory.
((Note: IF YOU WOULD LIKE I'm happy to provide Part 1 for more context and/or Part 3 for a bigger reveal but this is already so many fucking pages and I didn't want to throw a bajillion more at you. Lord. Memshare for a shounen.))]
This one... it's complicated, deciding how to feel about someone else seeing this. It was such a public clash, after all. By now, he's pretty sure that rumors and retellings have spread like wildfire throughout the Order, and he hardly knows every single person there. Plenty of people he's never spoken to already know his name and face--he'd already accepted that they know about this, too. But he'd been so caught up in what he was doing at the time that it's extremely uncomfortable to relive it with a clearer mind, especially around someone he still considers a stranger.
But it could be worse? There are things that he would never forgive someone for seeing, regardless of whether or not they had any control over it--this isn't one of those moments, even if he's not happy about it. Even with them getting dragged into the thick of the battle, all the tension and chaos help to overpower the heightened emotion, Alma's rage drowning out the heartache that might've otherwise slipped through Kanda's thick, thick walls.
...Mostly, anyway. But he can't make her unhear Can't you forgive that? or What did he want from you? Just your friendship! And beyond all that, Alma is...
...
When the memory ends, he holds himself very stiffly, and doesn't meet her gaze.
... Do you want me to pretend I didn't see all that? [because the last thing she wants is to make him run away further, even if she is dying to know what the context is. those lines in particular are sticking with her.]

she doesn't get too close! she's behaving herself, and also it's like. habit. he can probably feel how warm she is even from where she's standing.]
Break what? [eyebrow raise, as she looks at his sword. she's weaponless, but that's fine. she doesn't really need one, necessarily.]

Guy with the eyepatch. [kanda, please.] He's a doctor, you might want to consider knowing him.
